Etihad Rail officials have gone above and beyond in making an autistic teenager’s dream come true.

Suhail is a 15-year-old boy from Abu Dhabi who attends a school for autistic children in the emirate. He has always been very passionate about trains, and recently his family contacted Etihad Rail to see if they could arrange a train tour with Suhail and some of his school friends.

The Mohammed bin Rashid Center for Special Education, run by the NECC, jumped on board and helped with all the logistical details. During the visit, the students were able to experience a train journey and meet the drivers and engineers.

April being autism month, the family wanted to share their story and raise awareness. In an Instagram post, the family thanked the entire Etihad Rail team and wrote: “Being part of the local and global community is about inclusion. This level of engagement and inclusion creates lasting memories.

“We look forward to one day taking the trains from Abu Dhabi to the mountains of Fujairah.”

The MRC-NECC also took to Instagram and wrote: “Autism Awareness Month means a lot to a lot of people. Here at MRC-NECC we believe that awareness, acceptance and inclusion span the whole year and that community activities can open the hearts and doors of many people.

“We are blessed to have a motivated and supportive group of parents here at our school and we were so honored when @theboywhoknewthemountains Um Suhail gave us an amazing opportunity to visit Etihad Rail.”
