Airlines in the United Arab Emirates said on Sunday that they are closely monitoring the situation regarding the military conflict between Ukraine and Russia as well as the use of Ukrainian airspace.

Low-cost carrier flydubai, which operates flights to two Ukrainian cities, said it canceled services to the capital Kyiv, also known as Kyiv, on Wednesday. Flydubai flights are currently operating to Ukraine.

Due to the escalating situation on the Ukraine-Russia border, the UAE Embassy in Ukraine last week asked its citizens to “postpone travel to Ukraine for the time being” due to of the worsening of the situation.

Airlines around the world are watching developments cautiously. Lufthansa announced last week that it would suspend flights to Kyiv from Monday to the end of the month and also reduce exposure to Ukrainian airspace, fearing an imminent Russian attack on Kyiv. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines also announced an indefinite suspension of flights to Ukraine or through Ukrainian airspace on February 12.

Emirates does not operate flights to Ukraine.
