The World Memon Organization celebrates two decades of humanitarian work in Dubai

“Most of our work is philanthropic,” said WMO President Salman Iqbal, adding, “Our main focus has been education and entrepreneurship, especially for women. Every year, we train around 20 000 students.Over the past 20 years, we have raised and spent over $100 million on education, health and other projects to uplift the community.

Iqbal also recognized the work done by Global Youth Wing (GYW), under the leadership of President Khurram Kalia.

In addition to educating young people, GYW has also helped provide the necessary support for graduates to find employment. WMO has organized several job fairs and workshops to build CV writing and public speaking skills.

WMO has launched a project to plant 1.5 million trees in five years in several countries, including the United Arab Emirates. Kalia said, “We are in talks with UAE government agencies for this campaign.”

Meanwhile, Shabana Abdul Razzak, who heads the women’s wing of OMM, said: “I was one of the first in my family to finish university and enter the family business. A lot of people look up to me, and empowering more women is important to me.

This weekend, the WMO Women’s Wing launched the Women’s Entrepreneurship Conference, which brought together female thought leaders from various fields to inspire others on how to achieve their dreams.

Shabana added, “There are many women who want to achieve something but have no direction. We make sure to give them this direction.

The World Memon Organization was established in Dubai 20 years ago by the late Haji Abdul Razzaq, a famous Pakistani businessman based in Dubai, together with prominent memon businessmen from around the world. Its main objective is to serve humanity in the field of education and health, and to help the less privileged communities in the world.
