Taryam Omran Taryam and Dr. Abdullah Taryam were at the forefront of those calling for the creation of the federation of seven emirates, which is now the United Arab Emirates.

American professional basketball player Kobe Bryant once said, “Heroes come and go, but legends are forever. Taryam Omran Taryam, who together with his brother, Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, founded the Dar Al Khaleej Information Center, was a legendary pioneer who left an indelible mark on time – and publishing in the country. May 16 marks the 20th anniversary of the death of the prominent politician and journalist, known for his freedom of speech, unwavering principled stance and patriotism. These values continued to exist after Taryam’s death in 2002 as the symbols remain even though the body is gone.

Taryam Omran, a patriot committed to Arab nationalist and unitary integrity in the United Arab Emirates and the Persian Gulf region, represented the pinnacle of nationalism in the country, thanks to what he and his late brother, Dr. Abdullah Omran Taryam, have done, especially at all stages of the establishment of the UAE. They were both part of the official delegation from the emirate of Sharjah to the negotiations that preceded the “federation of seven emirates” and demanded the unification of the nine Gulf emirates after the end of British occupation in the early 1990s. seventies of the last century.

When the creation of the federation of the nine emirates proved difficult, Taryam Omran and Dr. Abdullah were at the forefront of those calling for the creation of the federation of the seven emirates, which is today the Arab Emirates United.

“When we felt that there would be no agreement on a federation of nine emirates, we requested that the federation combine the seven emirates because logic and real reality refer to the emirates in the region as nearby houses,” they said.

The contribution of the two brothers did not stop until their last days; they were among the stalwarts of Arab media and journalism running the Dar Al Khaleej Press, Printing and Publishing, which Taryam Omran ran as president until his death in 2002.

Almost two years ago, the newspaper ‘Al Khaleej’, which carries the slogan ‘For truth without fear and for reality without falsehood’, celebrated the 50th anniversary of its founding on October 19, 1970.

The memory of its founders, the late brothers Taryam Omran and Dr. Abdullah Omran, was strongly present by their great media achievements during its Golden Jubilee Ceremony.

‘Al Khaleej’ holds a unique national stature and value, which was and still is a trumpet call to the truth, and a mirror that reflects the reality of the Gulf region and the Arab world. Its value foundation is industrial strength: truth, professionalism, credibility, transparency, integrity and impartiality, seeking to document the civilizational and cultural heritage of the UAE.

It further plays a key illuminating role in deepening home belonging, loyalty to rulers, deepening the spirit of union, spreading tolerance, coexistence and openness. to others.

The late Taryam Omran’s articles translated many of his dreams, opinions and visions. His words had a great influence both locally and in the Arab world. Among his articles, one is entitled “Democracy is Security”, in which he states: “Democracy in our Arab world as a whole has suffered setbacks of all kinds.

“However, in our view, the most serious of these setbacks are the ‘phrases’ that opponents of democracy use to kill it, such as ‘The critical conditions’, ‘The transition phase’, ‘The grave stage’ , “The Decisive Moments”. », « Historical Junctions » and « Fateful Situations ».

But, all these emergency conditions, which were meant to be temporary, lasted for generations, until they became permanent and could be an inescapable fate. It is a false and rejected destiny. The Arab people seem to be exiled and separated from their lands because they have been deprived of the most basic human rights to participate and express themselves in any way. They will only return from their exile through the one and only door, which is freedom. It has a form, which is democracy embodied in participation, fair elections and genuine and honest representative councils.

After announcing the Union, he wrote an article titled “This is the country we are building”. He said: “The Union was heralded, slogans suddenly turned into facts, and now it is the turn of the people to realize their aspirations. The roles have been completely reversed. We advised and demanded, now we are bound to build, we blamed, now we will be blamed if we fail. After the Union, the work will no longer be that of the rulers or entities, it will be the work of the people. They must build and develop this hope. They must defend and protect it. The declaration of the Union seems easy, but preserving it is difficult, and can be very difficult in our circumstances, so let us protect ourselves with conscience, faith and perseverance, so that we preserve the continuation of this good seed. We must ensure a favorable climate for its growth.

“Our country deserves to spare no effort and to defend it to the last drop of blood. A country based on science, planning and fair distribution. A country of free Arab men, who have always dreamed during a dark and arduous march that has brought us today to the beginning of another hard, but luminous march.
