President Wavel Ramkalawan arrived in Tunis, the capital of Tunisia, to attend the eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD 8)


The President of the Republic, Mr. Wavel Ramkalawan arrived yesterday in Tunis, capital of Tunisia, where he is taking part in the eighth Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) which is being held from August 27 to 28, 2022 .

The President was welcomed on his arrival in Tunisia by Ms. Najla Bouden Romdhane, Prime Minister of the Republic of Tunisia. Also present were the Tunisian Minister of Defence, Mr. Imed Memiche, the Tunisian Minister of Women, Children and the Elderly, Mrs. Amel Belhaj Moussa, the Tunisian Minister of Sports and Youth, Mr. Kamel Deguiche , the Tunisian Minister of Tourism, Mr. Mohamed Belhassine and the Mayor of Tunis, Mrs. Souad Abderrahim.

The TICAD Summit is co-hosted by the Government of Japan, the United Nations, the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), the World Bank and the African Union Commission (AUC).

Accompanying the President to Tunisia are Mr. Conrad Mederic, Seychelles Ambassador to the African Union and Ethiopia, Ms. Lindy Ernesta, Director General, Bilateral Affairs, Department of Foreign Affairs and Mr. Rached Triméche, Honorary Consul General of the Republic from the Seychelles to Tunisia.
