Odisha-based artist Mona Biswarupa Mohanty receives UAE Golden Visa

Mona Biswarupa Mohanty, an artist from Mayurbhanj district in Odisha, is the latest in the list of Indians who have been awarded the coveted “Golden Visa” or UAE long-term residence visa for 10 years.

According to a report in Khaleej weather, Mohanty is the first Odia artist to receive the United Arab Emirates Golden Visa.

“I am honored to have received the Golden Visa. These stages of life mean a lot. They reassure you that if you follow your heart and put your heart and soul into it, you will gradually be rewarded in more ways than you can imagine ”, Khaleej weather quoted Mohanty as saying.

“Receiving the Golden Visa boosted my self-confidence and if it can inspire other young artists, I would consider it my biggest contribution. I listened to my heart and took the plunge and being rewarded for it tells me that when you follow your passion and give your best, good things start to happen to you, ”she added .

Mohanty, who has a Fine Arts degree from Baripada School of Arts and Crafts, works as a freelance artistic practitioner in Dubai where she has lived since 2007.

She came to Dubai as a lecturer at Manipal University in Dubai. For eight years she worked in the fashion industry where she designed abayas for a renowned brand. She later quit her day job to pursue a career in painting.

Mohanty maintains a beautiful catalog of her paintings on her Instagram account where she has more than 81,000 subscribers. “My creative consciousness took shape in my childhood as I imbibed the natural beauty and vibrant culture of my birthplace, Odisha, in eastern India. My father is a poet and lyricist. His simple writing style inspired me a lot. I draw my inspiration from my roots and also from the culture of all the places where I have lived. Nature, femininity and popular culture inspire me, ”she told the Khaleej Times.

Since the UAE government implemented the Golden Visa system in 2019, many Indians have benefited from it. These visas are issued for five or ten years and renewed automatically.

The United Arab Emirates Golden Visa allows foreigners to live, work and study in the country for a long time without the need for a national sponsor and with 100% ownership of their businesses there.
