The Ministry of Health and Prevention (MoHAP) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to enhance bilateral cooperation and conduct workshops on building a cloud-based electronic medical records system .

The signing came on the sidelines of MoHAP’s participation in Arab Health 2020, which will be held in Dubai from January 24-27.

The MoU covers the areas of an electronic medical records system, a data strategy and a healthcare portal that focuses on providing the best healthcare services to society members.

This is part of the ministry’s commitment to support digital transformation and build skills and capacities to update policies for empowering cloud computing by healthcare institutions, thus stimulating technological innovation that has cemented the country’s position as a thriving global hub and a leading example. digital governments.

“The project would enhance the exchange of experiences and global best practices. He pointed out that databases are one of the most important elements to develop plans and policies and effectively ensure the ideal distribution of health resources and services to improve community health and update the health indicators.

Ali Al-Ajmi, director of the digital health department at the ministry, said the MoU strengthens cooperation in creating a cloud-based electronic medical records system, setting out the current strategy of health data and the optimal use of data, and providing guidance on compliance with the requirements of the cloud-based electronic medical records system, which the ministry is working to implement across the country.

Al-Ajmi added that the ministry is working to identify current data sources, streams and targeted outcomes from a data-driven approach for decision-making.
