Mandatory 7-day home quarantine for passengers arriving in Mumbai from the United Arab Emirates

Mumbai has registered 2,510 new cases of the coronavirus today.

All international passengers arriving from the UAE to Mumbai, who are residents, will be subject to a mandatory seven-day home quarantine, the city’s civic body said today, as airports around the world experience a Massive holiday rush despite fears about the Omicron a variant.

The Covid RT-PCR tests, considered to be much more reliable than the other tests, will be mandatory for these passengers, it was further emphasized.

Last week, the civic body made the tests mandatory for passengers landing in the city from Dubai, which has now been extended to all of the United Arab Emirates.

Mumbai, the financial capital of India, is once again experiencing a peak in Covid cases. In the past 24 hours, the city has recorded 2,510 new infections – a jump of 82% from yesterday’s cases.

Across the city, all public places remain closed on December 31 to control the spread of the virus amid New Year’s celebrations.

“As the cases are increasing rapidly, we urge everyone not to panic. However, we all need to be extremely careful and ensure that we are vaccinated and masked,” the Minister of Maharashtra said today, Aaditya Thackeray.

Earlier today, state health minister Rajesh Tope warned of further restrictions.

“It is worrying to see the number of active cases increasing in the state. Mumbai’s positivity rate is 4%. If it exceeds 5% then we will have to think about imposing restrictions,” he said. to journalists.
