During the meetings, Almheiri stressed the importance of strong trade ties between New Jersey and the UAE, and how trade is a key driver of economic growth. In 2020, New Jersey exported over US$752 million worth of goods and services to the UAE, making it the seventh largest exporter to the UAE among the 50 states that year.

She also noted that the UAE has been the United States‘ largest trading partner in the entire Middle East and North Africa region for 13 consecutive years, with total two-way trade exceeding $23 billion in 2021. .
