Emirates News Agency – UAE aid reaches most flood-affected villages in northern Sudan state

KHARTOUM, 17th September, 2022 (WAM) — Emirates Red Crescent Society (ERC) field teams have distributed food baskets to families affected by the torrential rains and floods that recently hit Sudan.

The aid, which has been delivered to more than 7,000 villagers in Dongla district in Northern State, is part of the UAE’s ongoing humanitarian and relief efforts in Sudan. An airlift is being operated to help those affected by the torrential rains that hit a number of states and villages.

The recipients expressed their thanks to the leadership, government and people of the United Arab Emirates for the assistance which they say has helped them cope with the worst humanitarian catastrophe which has left huge loss of life and goods.

They also thank the ERC for taking the trouble to contact them in their remote areas to provide them with food baskets and shelter materials.

Acting Northern State Governor Al Baghir Ahmed Ali told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the UAE’s humanitarian and relief efforts to support families affected by the floods have helped to avert risks and mitigate the difficult humanitarian conditions experienced by residents of the State. .

”The delivery of food and shelter in these difficult circumstances faced by the people of Sudan demonstrates the generosity of the UAE and its kind people. We thank the wise leaders of the UAE for this supportive stance which reflects deep-rooted bilateral ties,’ he said.
