ABU DHABI, 2nd February, 2022 (WAM) — The Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (SEHA), in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Ministry of Health, has successfully concluded the second edition of the International Conference on Abu Dhabi Mental Health (ADIMHC).

The two-day hybrid event, held on January 28-29, 2022 at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre, welcomed over 2,300 delegates in its largest edition to date.

On ADIMHC’s opening day, Dr. Jamal Mohammed Al Kaabi, DoH Undersecretary, presented the department’s new mental health model and affirmed Abu Dhabi‘s commitment to improving the quality of life of patients with mental and psychological illnesses. The model will use international best practices in line with the highest regional and international standards, positioning healthcare in the UAE among the best in the world.

The model will also integrate an advanced mental health workforce into the primary care community, launch a comprehensive regulatory framework dedicated to the delivery of mental health care services, and a psychological wellbeing tracking system.

“Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Department has rolled out several initiatives and partnered with a number of entities to ensure the availability of mental health support for all members of our community. We’ve partnered with the National Happiness and Well-Being Program to launch 800 HOPE, a mental helpline dedicated to providing safe and confidential counseling around the clock. community development, Abu Dhabi Public Health Center and SEHA to support residents facing mental pressure through the Istijaba call center,” Al-Kaabi said.

Dr. Omniyat Al Hajri, Executive Director of Community Health Sector at Abu Dhabi Public Health Center, spoke about the importance of community mental health, the role of education and awareness campaigns and the role of society as a whole in improving awareness and early detection. .

Dr. Nahida Niaz Ahmed, Consultant Psychiatrist and Chair of SEHA’s Behavioral Health Council, said, “We are extremely proud to work with DOH to create a healthcare system that puts mental health first. collaboration and for spearheading a much-needed change in society’s view of mental health patients.”

The conference featured an entire section on integrating psychiatry with multiple disciplines to address the mental health challenges faced by patients with chronic conditions.
