Emirates News Agency – Maktoum bin Mohammed meets Prime Minister of Serbia


DUBAI, 12th May, 2022 (WAM) — His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Governor of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, today met with Ana Brnabic, Prime Minister of Serbia, in Dubai and discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations in various areas of common interest.

Sheikh Maktoum also witnessed the signing of an agreement between the UAE and Serbia to promote knowledge exchange and enhance capacity development and implementation of best practices in each other’s government sectors.

During the meeting, Sheikh Maktoum highlighted how the leadership of the President of the United Arab Emirates, His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and the guidance of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the Emirates Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, fostered partnerships to create highly effective government systems that meet the needs of the community Maktoum bin Mohammed said UAE leaders wanted to promote collaborations that would strengthen the government’s ability to promote sustainable development, to develop innovative solutions to challenges and to keep pace with global change .

The agreement reflects the strong bilateral relationship between the two countries and embodies Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum’s vision to establish international partnerships that can help improve the government’s effectiveness and future preparedness, he said. .

The agreement was signed by Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the United Arab Emirates, and the Prime Minister of Serbia.

The agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Serbia follows a series of meetings, summits and visits that have fostered the exchange of knowledge on improving the performance and effectiveness of government by putting the focus on nine key pillars. The agreement signed today creates a framework for sharing expertise in the areas of digital government, digital economy, science and innovation, government capacity building, business incubators, creative industries and tourism, education, programming and artificial intelligence.

This cooperation is the latest in a series of agreements and memorandums of understanding signed by the UAE with various countries to enhance government cooperation. Governments with which the UAE has already established cooperation are Egypt, Jordan, Iraq, Sudan, Kurdistan Region of Iraq, Uzbekistan, Senegal, Costa Rica, Greece, Colombia, Spain, Seychelles, Maldives, Guyana and Barbados.

The UAE had launched a program overseen by the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs to promote global partnerships and the exchange of best practices and experiences in government.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Chairman of Dubai Airports and Chairman and CEO of Emirates Airline and Group; Mohammad Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Cabinet Affairs of the United Arab Emirates; Mohamed bin Hadi Al Hussaini, Minister of State for Financial Affairs; Omar Sultan Al Olama, Minister of State for Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy and Remote Work Applications; and Helal Saeed Almarri, Director General of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism.
