ABU DHABI, October 29, 2021 (WAM) – The 6th annual meeting of the Board of Governors of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), chaired by the United Arab Emirates, concluded this week.

With the participation of delegates and strategic partners from more than 100 member countries, the three-day virtual meeting continued to build on international cooperation to accelerate sustainable development, focusing on green finance and resilient infrastructure in the world. climate change.

The virtual meeting was held under the patronage of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, who delivered the welcoming speech during the opening ceremony.

Dr Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and Governor of the United Arab Emirates on the AIIB Board of Governors, gave the opening remarks and Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, Managing Director of the Fund of Abu Dhabi for Development (ADFD) and United Arab Emirates Alternate Governor member of the AIIB Board of Governors, participated in a Governors’ Roundtable on Climate Finance.

By hosting its first annual meeting in the region, the AIIB engaged stakeholders in the region and beyond.

Organized under the theme “Invest Today, Transform Tomorrow”, the public agenda and meeting attracted over 1,600 registrants, and facilitated knowledge sharing and discussed how to create new opportunities to connect Asia to the rest. of the world.
