Dubai: UAE Vamanjooreans Celebrate ‘Monthi Fest’ Family Day

Dubai, September 21: Vamanjooreans UAE, a deep community residing in Dubai, celebrated the birthday of the Virgin Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ on the occasion of the family festival “Monthi fest”.

As a family, community members gathered on September 18 at Biryani 2020 Restaurant, Oud Mehta here.

On this momentous day, the Vamanjooreans celebrated the occasion with great respect to Mother Mary by praising, singing hymns, offering flowers and there after drinking Novem in the traditional way. It was an inimitable opportunity for all to meet fellow parishioners. The program was initiated by the praise of Mother Mary with the hymn “Sakkad Sangatha Melyan” as well as the offering of flowers in procession.

Prayers were led by Joyline Pinto and team members Lavita, Preema, Elvira, Lydia, Flavin and Joel.

Host Sunita D’Souza did a fantastic job of asking some questions related to Vamanjoor’s history of the Catholic community. She engaged the public in various games and other cultural activities.

The main guest, Fr. Victor Fernandes, inspired and blessed the event. He also revived the NOVEN JEVAN culture with President Johnson Monteiro and other seniors on the dais.

All were mesmerized by a solo dance performance by Delisha and Jeenal. A group dance was performed by Roshan and Lenora. A wonderful group dance was performed by Clavia, Sandhya, Flavan, Jovita, Preema, Denzil, Lavita, Vinay, Lynal and Elvira. Joel Pinto and Sheetal D’Souza, smoothed the spirits with their euphonious voices in the ears of the listeners.

The DJ and sound setup was arranged by DJ Errol.

The occasion dates back to the culture of eating lunch with a variety of foods on a banana leaf. UAE Vamanjooreans had a wonderful lunch on banana leaves and the food was served by Das Prakash Karama Restaurant, Dubai.

The award for best traditional dress was won by Joel Pinto in the male category and Juliana in the female category.

A quiz on the theme of Vamanjoor and history was organized. The winner was Delton Miranda.

The popular Housie Housie game was held at the end of the program and prizes were given out to the winners.

A baila dance session was organized for all Vamanjoorians to cherish the beautiful memories. The entire event was captured by Merwyn Furtado (Merclicks).

The entire event was formulated under the guidance of Johnson Monteiro and Stephan Menezes and other committee members.

The event was a splendid success as many Vamanjooreans attended.
