People in the United Arab Emirates can provide vital support for the One Billion Meals initiative with their next takeout order.

Leading food delivery app Deliveroo supports the UAE’s ambitious campaign to deliver food to people in need in 50 countries.

Those using the app can donate Dh10, Dh50, Dh100, Dh300 or AED500 to bolster the rapidly growing fundraising tally

The international campaign is led by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives.

Thanks to the contributions, basic ingredients will be obtained to provide nutritious meals to families and less fortunate people around the world.

“We are proud to be in a position where we can use our unique network to help fight food poverty and we look forward to continuing the spirit of giving and kindness at Deliveroo in the UAE,” said Anis Harb. , managing director of Deliveroo in the GCC.

“Giving back with humanitarian work is an ongoing goal we strive for at Deliveroo.”

London-based food delivery service Deliveroo operates in 11 countries and works with 148,000 restaurants and grocery chains.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, launched One Billion Meals at the start of Ramadan.

More than 420 million dirhams have already been raised – the campaign is set to continue until it reaches its ambitious goal of providing one billion meals to people in need in 50 countries.

Rare license plate auctions were held in Dubai last Saturday and in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday to benefit the scheme.

Abu Dhabi‘s exclusive ‘2’ license plate sold for Dh23.3 million ($6.3 million) at the capital’s charity auction.

A total of 111 million dirhams was raised on Wednesday night in bids for rare license plates and exclusive mobile phone numbers.
