Abu Dhabi Investment Office (Adio), Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) and Roborace, the world’s premier full-size electric autonomous racing car championship, signed a memorandum of understanding to boost innovation in the mobility sector as well as at the crossroads between physical and virtual reality and esports in Abu Dhabi.

As part of the agreement, Adio, Mubadala and Roborace will explore the development of innovative products based on autonomous technologies and the infrastructure of the Roborace metaverse to facilitate a faster and wider adoption of autonomous vehicle technology, focusing on emphasis on sustainability.

Roborace will examine the desirability of establishing its regional headquarters in Abu Dhabi and also consider how the upcoming seasons of its autonomous racing series from and in Abu Dhabi will operate, and will work with Adio and Mubadala on the development of its metaverse technology in based on the testing and simulation of autonomous driving systems in specialized centers of expertise in Abu Dhabi.

Adio, Mubadala and Roborace are active supporters of the 4th Industrial Revolution, seeing artificial intelligence and the intersection of physical and virtual reality as the backbone of future industries.

The project uses Abu Dhabi’s world-class infrastructure and strategic assets backed by Abu Dhabi Motorsports Management (ADMM) providing access to the Yas Marina circuit and its facilities, as well as Twofour54 as a destination for technology production capacities and desktop content and infrastructure for possible incorporation.

The MoU was signed by Badr Al Olama, Executive Director of UAE Investments, at Mubadala Investment Company; Mohammed Al Dhaheri, Head of Infrastructure Partnerships, Adio; and Chip Pankow, director of competition at Roborace.

To showcase the technology, Roborace will be exhibiting one of its self-driving racing cars and the world’s fastest self-driving car in the Guinness World Records – Robocar – at the FutrWorld event December 9-11 at Manarat Al Saadiyat in Abu Dhabi. .
